What is Christina Bee about?

Christina Bee is a passionate native plant gardener. She is committed to creating green spaces that can serve as ecological buffers from the pressures of life. Unafraid to try new things and experiment, Christina has used native plants in naturalistic landscaping to create a place where both people and humans and nature can co-exist.

Why a non-profit organization?

As a Rutgers Master Gardener, she has committed to educating the community about plants and gardening. As a natural extension of the work as Master Gardener, a non-profit gives her the opportunity to extend her work with the community, establish land trusts for the preservation of green spaces, and apply for grants to build public gardens and restore the natural woodlands that used to abound in the Northeastern United States.

Green spaces in urban and suburban areas create cooling zones during heat waves. They provide both humans and wildlife a green retreat from the busy roads and highways of our lives. They are a carbon sink for the inevitable fossil fuels needed to power our transportation and productivity, and they serve to improve the climate resilience of the surrounding area. Forests provide wind and noise buffers during storms. Natural wetlands provide water buffers, reducing flooding in developed neighborhoods. All they need is a little protection and smart stewardship.
